Anouk Griffioen
About
Anouk Griffioen brings together various landscapes and subjects in her monumental charcoal drawings. She creates a world that the viewer can step into or even disappear into. In her work, Griffioen deals with the conflict between man and nature, city and landscape. The ongoing growth of cities is putting the livability of the area under pressure. By giving greenery a place in the built-up world, it appeals to our deep-rooted desire for nature. It's the place to leave the beaten path and gain new insights. Occasionally, a humanoid shadow is visible, which seems to dissolve in the background. In her work, she avoids depicting expressive human figures. It seems hard to believe that the enormous works are charcoal drawings.
