Natascha Libbert, Lily’s Water, 2020, archival print in frame with museum art glass, 1/5 + 2AP, 100 x 140 cm
About
In the seemingly innocent photos of Natascha Libbert, the traces that humans can leave in nature are subtly palpable. The beauty you see often has a dark edge or plays with the destructive power of nature and man. For recent photo series, Libbert traveled to Florida, Spain, and Cyprus, among other places. The work shows the different ways we interact with the earth. In Florida, she witnessed intentional fires being set to prevent uncontrolled ones. In Spain, she documented the devastating impact on people and the earth of the massive food greenhouses. In Cyprus, finally, she came across abandoned mines, resulting in a color palette that was both dazzling and super toxic.
