About

Kadir van Lohuizen is a renowned photographer, who has covered conflicts in Africa and elsewhere, but is probably best known for his long-term projects on the seven rivers of the world, the rising of sea levels, the diamond industry, and migration in the Americas. He began working as a professional photographer in 1988, covering the Intifada. In the years that followed, he worked in many conflict areas in Africa, such as Angola, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Liberia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. From 1990 to 1994, he covered the transition in South Africa from apartheid to democracy. Recently, he had solo exhibitions at Het Scheepvaartsmuseum and Kunstlinie. In November 2023, he presented a new series about the Netherlands as the world's second-largest food exporter at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam. He showed how the Netherlands produces an abundance of food that goes to all corners of the world. In this series, Van Lohuizen showed the massiveness of the production chain.
